Since so many people use Ubuntu, it's no surprise to see it start showing up
in the datacenter, the only surprise is that it's taken so long
The model I see more and more:
-need Oracle ==> RedHat
-need other commercial software only supported on RH ==> CentOS
-everybody else ==> Ubuntu
As far as I am concerned, the huge advantages of Ubuntu on the server are:
-the amount of packages available in the default repositories
-packages in the repositories are fairly recent
-zero difference between the free and the paid-for supported version
-you can put whichever number of servers you want under support contract (RH
forces you to put every single RH instance under contract)
