A while back, one of the dead-tree publications did an article about
how to use "R" in system admin tasks and it was nice but there was an
assumption that the reader knew most of the hows and whys of
statistics.

Reading it I realized there was an even larger chunk of things I knew
little to nothing about. While reading it I kept thinking that there
were a number of probably simple things that I could prove to the
bosses if I have even the first clue about statistics and rudimentary
data analysis.

I can collect tons of data from my devices but what would be a good
way to present this information to those who need to know why we're
running out of (fill in the missing resource).

I'd be very interested in hearing what sort of things this discussion generates.
