Every now and then, I've ended up with items that were autographed
by an author (in the case of a PERL shirt, by *three* authors),
and I often find homes for them rather than just tossing them out.

I have been quite touched by the response I got to this (all off
list), and it's quite amazing to see how many lives Evi touched.

It's now on the way to Georgia. For those that thought I should donate
it, I point out again that it's just a signature (purple ink or not),
and that I'd rather it ended up with someone who actually wanted it.

I think the most amazing thing about it is how useful most of the
information still is. How many 18 year old technical books still have
useful information that pertains to what you do on a day to day basis?
Having just cleaned out most of my library, I can tell you that the
number is vanishingly small.

BTW, as an aside, Amazon buys back books that you may not have a use for
any more, and I was shocked that some of them were purchased back for
nearly what I paid for them originally. Amazon is an intermediary for
the used book stores that will be selling them, and it was an excellent
experience.
