I do Biz card -> LinkedIn also. However I do miss IR syncing. I used to sync my full vCard which had a ton of useful info. I would gladly switch to QR code if it was about as fast as handing someone a biz card. The benefit with cards, however, is that you can write notes on them.
Since my new biz cards have no room to write on the back, I tend to create an email message to myself with the note I would have written. I then hand my phone to the person and ask them to enter their email address. It works really well. They can even add to the body of the email.
