By default, when installing Windows 8.1 Pro, it forces you to sign in with a 
microsoft account.  There is no cancel, skip, or any other way to circumvent 
it.  They give you a link to create an account if you don't already have one.  
For most purposes, it's probably a good thing - home users in typical usage 
scenarios.  But I don't want it personally, and if you're an IT person 
deploying for other people, then once again, probably not what you want.

The workaround is:  Disconnect the network during installation.  Then instead 
of prompting you to login or create microsoft account, it prompts you to create 
a local user account.
