01. Looking for help with the LOPSAGram
As you can see we are back to the old format as I am not a graphics
person at all. I am looking for help with layout, design, and content
for the LOPSAGram. If you are or if you know of someone who is
interested in helping out please contact me at [email protected]. I would
love to get a template I can use from which I can generate HTML and PDF
    versions of the LOPSAGram.

02. LOPSA turns 10 years old in 2015!
Can you believe it. LOPSA will be 10 years old in 2015. To celebrate
our first 10 years, the Board is looking for your ideas. Please contact
    us at [email protected].

03. LOPSA is debt free!
If you were at the Annual Meeting at LISA, the big news is that LOPSA is
officially debt free for the first time in years. What this means for
you is that LOPSA can put its dollars into services for its members and
the system admin community. For more information, please check out

https://lopsa.org/sites/all/modules/civicrm/extern/url.php?u=3597&qid=100972
for more information.

04. Matt Simmons and Steve Murawski resigned from the Board
Both Matt and Steve have resigned from the Board because of other
commitments. Being a board member is a great way to help out the
system admin community. If you are interested in helping out by being
a board member, please contact Warner Moore at [email protected] for
    more information.

05. Cascadia IT Conference happening on March 13-14, 2015
Cascadia IT Conference is on schedule for March of 2015. This is a
great,
small 2 day conference in Seattle where you can meet with peers, learn
the latest technologies, and enjoy the Seattle spring weather. The
early bird deadline for registration is February 15th. We hope to see
you
    there.

06. LOPSA-East will not be happening in 2015
Due to many factors LOPSA-East will not be happening in 2015. If you
are interested in making it happen next year, please email
    [email protected].

07. LISA was a big success this year
LISA was a big success this year with the most attendees it has had in
several years. The new format of mini-tutorials was a big hit and there
were many new and interesting tutorials and talks. LOPSA and USENIX are
looking forward to LISA 2015 in Washington DC next year.

08. LOPSA Non-Profit Status
LOPSA was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit which places
limitations
on the activities LOPSA can participate in. 501(c)(3) non-profits
are primarily focused on educational purposes while 501(c)(6)
non-profits
are primarily focused on services for their members. While most of what
LOPSA does falls under the 501(c)(3) category a few items such as the
LPR
program are questionable so the Board is working with an attorney to
make
sure all of LOPSA's activities meet IRS guidelines. We will keep you
posted as we find out more.

09. Mentorship program going strong
The Mentorship program is doing well with over 200 people involved in
it and 43 active Mentor/Protege pairings. However we can always use
more
help especially with Windows mentors and on the core team that manages
the program. If you can help out, please [email protected].

10. LPR Program on hold for now
As mentioned in item 08, there is some concern that the LPR program does
not fit in with LOPSA's non-profit status. Because of that, we have
chosen
to put the LPR program on hold until the non-profit status question has
been resolved. Please contact [email protected] with any questions.
