Just before LISA 2013, there was a lot of list traffic about sysadmin
professionalization. I digested the entire thread, abstracted the relevant
links and interested parties, and worked with Will Dennis and Matt Simmons
to set up a BoF on the topic at LISA 2013. The meeting was well attended
and the room bristled with enthusiasm.

I believe many of the links gathered, especially in the BoK section, are
really relevant to a LOPSA recommended reading list.

Sadly, after that BoF, I heard nothing more on the BoK or
professionalization projects.

If anyone is interested, the files created here are freely viewable:

I'd love to work with folks on putting together a BoK strawman for group
review and approval project. Or any variation on that theme.

My column didn't make the cut-off for this month's LOPSAgram, so I'm
posting it here as I need input from the membership:

To summarize, a week or so ago one of my co-workers asked me if LOPSA has a
recommended reading list for sysadmin topics. Since I had to answer "no"
and I want to see LOPSA developing more content for the sysadmin community,
I would like to get our member's input on what should be on such a list and
how the list should be structured.

See the blog post above for the specifics and a few of my suggestions. Feel
free to either reply to me directly, comment on the post, or e-mail the
list with your suggestions. The list is probably the best choice however,
as I would love to see active discussion on this topic.

Thanks!
