Just a comment on the use of the API, there's a very good command-line client called gam https://github.com/jay0lee/GAM that I use heavily for my GA management automation rather than writing code directly to the API.
I'm surprised you're seeing spam/porn problems, we get very little spam into the inbox with Google Apps for Work (there's a ton in the spam folder though). We use OpenDNS Umbrella as a forwarder, so a lot of that stuff doesn't get loaded when mail is opened, if it has made it through the GA spam filter.
