(Full disclosure, I haven't read the article yet.) I think it depends on the company culture. Most companies I've applied to / worked for don't care what you have a degree in, as long as you have a degree. I have a bachelors degree in history, and that doesn't seem to bother them. Knowing what we know about being self-taught, newer companies or strictly tech companies are starting to remove the degree requirement. Then again, this has just been my very limited personal experience, so I don't know what others have experienced.
