Hello everyone,
I am writing this to share a concern regarding the Debian MariaDB repos. Nowadays if you install the latest Debian LTS (trixie/13), the only option is 11.8, which was released less than 1 year ago! I do understand that it takes time and space to maintain more than 3 versions but honestly with the new release cycles being closer, we end up in some ridiculous situation where a user running 11.4 cannot update their operating system. 11.4 is only two years old, not everyone wants to upgrade for several reasons. Since the mariadb LTS cycle is 5 years it would make more sense if a version was packaged for the last Debian LTS which is 5 years as well. I know we can still work around that by running it in Docker but again, not everyone wants to. Thanks for listening to me.
