In the last month or so I had a question of properly implementing
a SQL statement for my database desktop application.

I would like to give thanks for the input which helped me to implement
support for Vectors in MariaDB. I did not accomplish support for
a VECTOR INDEX in the coming release.

I have run into this in the past of supporting Binary, Blob, Text
indexing. According to the JDBC connector meta data information the
Vector, Index is:

index Name Class Type Type Name Scale Precision Size
10 vector_type byte[] -3 VARBINARY 0 8 8

Class and Type are Java references with Type being java.sql.Types.VARBINARY
for -3.

A WHERE clause SQL statement with a byte is an interesting problem to solve for selecting an entry. A further note on the JDBC connector meta data for LONGBLOB and GEOMETRY data types is returning a -1 for Precision and Size.
