Hi all,

We have started putting more focus on MariaDB plugins and plugin infrastructure:

https://mariadb.org/plugins/

MariaDB already has a powerful plugin architecture. Plugins can add storage
engines, security features, logging, data types, functions, and other
extensions without requiring changes to the core server code. We would like to
make this area more visible, easier to understand, and easier for new
contributors to explore.

For this, we would very much appreciate feedback from the community.

In particular:

Are there existing plugins that should be easier to find, build, install, or
document?
Are there plugin examples or tutorials you wish existed?
Are there plugin ideas that would make MariaDB more useful for your own work?
Are there missing APIs, hooks, or documentation gaps that make plugin
development harder than it should be?
Would you be interested in writing a plugin yourself, or helping someone else
get started?
Plugin ideas do not need to be large or complicated. A small, useful example
plugin can be just as valuable as a bigger project, especially if it helps
others understand how to extend MariaDB.

If you have ideas, comments, complaints, wishlists, half-formed thoughts, or
“someone really should build this” suggestions, please share them. Even better,
if you would like to try writing a plugin, we would love to hear from you.

You can reply here on the mailing list, or submit ideas through the form on the
plugins page.

Hello Anna,
i do not see much response, NTL i have some questions.
Is the idea here a brain storming ? everything goes ?
or should somebody have an use case ?

CU

Best regards,

Anna Widenius
