This seems to be interesting. I'm requesting SFC list to be included with the
following options:
Posting permissions: Unidirectional (no posting allowed through Gmane).
Encrypt addresses: false
Spam tagging: true
Mailing list software: mailman
Group name: gmane.network.opendaylight.sfc-dev
Project URL: https://wiki.opendaylight.org/view/Service_Function_Chaining:Main
Language: English
Localization: false
Add the list to www.mail-archive.com<http://www.mail-archive.com>: true

Please let me know if this requires any additional permissions or
authorizations. I'd like to add other lists if possible.
Best Regards,
Miguel Ángel.

+1 I like this too, and saw on http://gmane.org/find.php?list=opendaylight that
4 ODL lists are meanwhile on gmane.org<http://gmane.org> .. are there plans to
surface all of https://lists.opendaylight.org/mailman/listinfo there?

M.

as it turns out (bottom of

also triggering first email for gmane becouse "the resulting groups will be

arrives from the mailing lists"

Great to see consensus on this! :)

I've contacted the gmane.org<http://gmane.org> adminstrators and asked them to
add this very list, discuss, to their service.
According to http://gmane.org/import.php, though, I need admin approval to
import the archives. Have each list its own admin or is there a single group of
people responsible for all of them?

Subject: setup gmane for easly mailing list archive navigation
To:
[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>

Hello,

I've been developing and hacking on opendaylight code for quite some month
lately and have found the mailing lists an invaluable source of informations.

The current (mailman-based) lists site though isn't very flexible to
navigate/search for, forcing one to either go the "google
site:lists.opendaylight.org<http://lists.opendaylight.org>" way (which doesn't
cover recent posts) or directly subscribe and use the search/navigation
facility of her/his own mailclient.

What would you think about exposing the lists through
gmane.org<http://gmane.org> [1]?

In case you don't know, It's a very famous online mailing list archiving
service, used by thousands of free software projects. It exposes the lists
through different kind of flexible interfaces/protocols (blog-like, threaded,
RSS feeds, NNTP ), letting one to use the tools it prefers to navigate and
search the list.

The addition process is very simple and explained in [2] and [3]. Some
opendaylight lists [4] were already added as a test (unidirected: no posting
allowed) in April, but they lack the archives of the previous months to be
really useful. You can use them nonetheless to get an idea of the facilities it
provides over the default mailman site [5]

An alternative would be to deploy mailman 3 with the revamped UI Postorius [6]
but I think for the moment the gmane.org<http://gmane.org> way would be much
easier.
