Hello Ed, Sorry for the delay. I wasn't sure wether I would be able to make it to the summit.
Here is a talk proposal: [Title] VPP performance tuning from the perspective of virtual networking [Abstract] Testing VPP, or more generally getting the best out of VPP, can be challenging. And it gets even trickier when it comes to virtual networks, where virtual machines or shared memory pipes are involved. This talk will focus on the many nits and tricks to be aware of to get the best out of VPP as well as to measure its performances, on both forwarding and reliability sides. Such tricks include correct CPU selection and pinning, how to convince Linux kernel to leave your CPUs alone, how to make sure that memory access does not kill your performances, etc... In addition, as discussions about virtio 1.1 (next version of virtio) are now starting, this talk will be illustrated by real-life examples of how such tuning impacts virtual network performances, as well as elements from the virtio 1.0 standard which might be improved in the upcoming version.
