What: The Linux Foundation will be performing a migration of the ODL Gerrit migration from its current location in Rackspace private cloud into a new instance in AWS. At the same time the identity backend will be transitioning from ODLID to LFID.
When: Saturday, December 9, 2017 @ 07:00 - 11:00 PT (15:00 - 19:00 UTC) Why: This is the next step in our continuing efforts to improve support for all of our projects. Moving ODL's Gerrit system to LFID will improve the ability for collaboration across all LF hosted projects but also gets us one step closer to turning off the ODLID system. We will also be seeing a major upgrade in Gerrit from 2.12.7 to 2.14.5+ We've been holding on v2.12 for some time due to an outstanding communication issue between newer Gerrit systems and Jenkins that has been finally resolved. The reasons for the previous attempt being aborted have all been worked out and this attempt has a high probability of actually succeeding this time. Impact: Gerrit will be offline for all of the maintenance window. Jenkins will be put into shutdown mode 1 hour prior to the window start to give any long running Gerrit triggered jobs a chance to finish before Gerrit goes offline during the maintenance. When Gerrit does come back online accounts will be in one of two states: 1) We have mapping information of ODLID -> LFID and will be updating the account database accordingly (this includes merging down accounts that somehow managed to get shared email addresses in them). These accounts will be _enabled_ for login. 2) We do not have mapping information for accounts. These accounts will be _disabled_ for login. Anyone finding their account in this state will need to contact the ODL helpdesk [0] to update their account information. If folks have any questions, concerns or requests related to this please let me know, or open a helpdesk [0] ticket related to it. Per usual, announcements on the maintenance will be sent out to the lists and in the #opendaylight Freenode IRC channel prior to the start and at the conclusion of the maintenance. -Andy- [0] [email protected] -- Andrew J Grimberg Lead, IT Release Engineering The Linux Foundation
