It is not a new topic, and I do not believe there is a ready-to-go
capability to do this.

Can you file an issue in MD-SAL project and flesh out the use case?

Key questions:
- how does that external system interact with ODL-as-a-YANG-datastore?
- are there any Binding-aware applications loaded?
