Dear geek gourmets around the world,

little pieces in the kitchen, Christmas meat already prepared, and the smell of vanilla and cinnamon is everywhere - it's Christmas, finally. After a successful year, it is about time to relax, to enjoy some silent days, and to look back at what we have achieved during the past 12 months.

For our Open Source Cooking, it was a successful year. Starting in the fantastic atmosphere of the Essen Unperfekthaus in January, with cooking Mexican food in spring, to prepraring a delicious Turkish meal in November, we had three fantastic events - not to forget our Christmas baking one week ago.

I'd like to take a chance to thank all those who made those events possible, because without dedicated people standing behind such crazy ideas, it wouldn't be more than an idea. So, today, I would like to especially thank my good friends Christian, Alex and Steven, for supporting my weird ideas all of the time, for coming up with great recipes, and for not only cooking delicious and professional meals, but also for standing the amount of stress those events and working together with me carry. ;-) Thanks, my friends, for a fantastic time, for - even if it's Christmas, I have to say - a hell lot of fun, and for the delicious meals you created.

My thanks also go out to those who made cooking in public possible: Armin and Said from Munich Café Netzwerk, who have been supportive of our idea from the very beginning, and without whom the event never would have been filled with life. My very warm thank you also goes out to Reinhard and Boris from Essen Unperfekthaus, for their amazing hospitality and for making cooking in such a wonderful environment possible.

And, of course, my deepest thanks to all those who join us, who jump into the land of the unknown and cook by our side. Folks, it's amazing to be with you, and the joy you bring really leaves me speechless.

And so we plan even further! ;-) Admittedly, our recent idea sounds rather weird, but as the border between genius and madness is very thin, we currently plan to host an event in a running train: "Geeks on rails", so to say. We also plan for an Open Source Sauna, and an event best described as "Mountain hacking", where we want to host a hacking weekend in a lodge. And let's not forget about our Open Source Cooking roadshow, where we want to create delicious food in various European cities with our geek gourmet friends around the globe.

So, in each and every aspect, I am sure that the upcoming year will not be open source friendly, very delicious, but that it will also bring a lot of surprises. :-)

I wish all of you a merry Christmas, some joyful, peaceful and happy days with those close to you, and a blessed, healthy and successful new year!

Looking forward to cooking with you in 2012!

Florian
