Hi everyone, I meant to send this out a lot earlier. This is your
invitation to submit articles and ideas for the upcoming Volume 2 of
the Journal. We have a pretty full plate already, but I wanted to
make one last call for participation. There is also room in volume 3.
Please contact me directly (off list) if you have time over the next
week to write and are interested in putting in an article.
See below for some more information for authors...
p.s. to those who did commit to writing, you have just over 1 week to
get the first draft complete.
Thank you for helping spread the word about your projects and
successful use of open source!
There are a few things you need to know and consider:
1 / Please note who the editor is for the content category of your
article:
http://wiki.osgeo.org/index.php/Journal#Production_Team - If there
is no one listed for your category, then I am your editor. Please
confirm with your editor (cc:'d here) that you will write the
proposed article.
2 / Clarify title and category. Some articles and writers are only
proposed at this time and not finalised. Please review the above
URL and check that your title, topic and category represent what
you plan to write.
3 / Article drafts are due ** June 22nd **, with final submissions
due by July 3rd (at the latest). If these timelines are too tight,
then we will likely need to delay your article into the next volume.
4 / LaTeX formatting. We use the LaTeX formatting/layout system
for typesetting the Journal. If you are comfortable using it then
we encourage you to do so. A simple template is available:
http://svn.osgeo.org/osgeo/journal/template/article.tex However,
if this is a barrier for you, our editorial team will gladly do the
conversion from OpenOffice, HTML or even Word .doc format for you.
5 / Licensing. We have chosen a Creative Commons licence for the
Journal. For more information about what this means for your
readers and you, as an author, see:
http://wiki.osgeo.org/index.php/Journal_License_and_Guidelines
I look forward to seeing your work and thank you for your interest
in the Journal.
Sincerely,
Tyler
