In the DC area, we have an active group involved with OpenStreetMap (http://mappingdc.org), and there is the GeoDC group ( http://geo-dc.ning.com/) which is more of a professional networking group, with monthly talks. Among these groups, I think there is some crossover interest in OSGEO specific activities. For the AAG conference coming up, we are organizing an exhibit table for OSGEO and do need people to help with the table. I don't know what other OSGEO activities are happening during AAG, but surely there must be a happy hour or something.
