Percy,
To start the ball rolling, I've created a wiki page for a desktop
comparison here:
http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/GIS_Desktop_Comparison
I suggest that for your conference in two weeks, we focus on the more
achievable, and less politically charged goal of providing a project
feature comparison, which hopefully should simple be an updating of
Stefan's table from 2008:
http://www.spatialserver.net/osgis/
Stefan,
As this comparison project was your baby, I'm interested to hear your
throughts.
I suspect that it would be beneficial to provide this table (possibly
simplified) as a Google Doc Spreadsheet, publicly available, and invite
projects to update the status of their projects.

Hi Percy,
since I see you are editing the 2009 codesprint page and I guess you
are interested, I answer here.
I organized that sdhootout for the Italian Chapter meeting last year
and had put up that page because I was hoping to be able to do an
unformat test at the foss4g of Sydney (sent an email on this list but
got no answer). Sadly no one of the other GIS showed up, so all we
ended up was with a list of things that would be nice to have. We then
created a final list on the gfoss.it wiki, if you are interested, I
can search that. Can't remember the link right now.
The shootout took place at the meeting in Italy and even if it was the
first time it had a good feedback.
If something comes up for the foss4g in September, I could probably
help out a bit. For sure me or some other uDig lover would be present
with the uDig/JGrass combo.
Best regards,
Andrea

sorry for the extra noise!

I specifically remember it being related to the Quebec FOSS4G-NA...
Can anyone else help me with this?
The Quebec FOSS4G-NA (Feb/March 2011) is still at the early planning
stage, and I don't remember reading anything related to a Desktop shootout.

P.S. Talking of the Quebec Chapter, the organization of our June 2010
event ("Rendez-vous OSGeo Quebec 2010") is well underway. For those
interested, a summary is available in English at
