I can fully understand that some/most candidates remain modest, luckily we have a nice collection of pointers here: http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/New_Member_Nominations_2010 Please take a look and also consider the spatial distribution etc of the candidates for a good choice in terms of an "umbrella" foundation.
