Any status on this cameron? If you are going to CC discuss@lists.osgeo.org (mailto:discuss@lists.osgeo.org) it would be nice to keep communication going. When I checked in on the IRC channel it looked like the stability problems were due to some efforts to cut down on space... tomcat was a bit of a bystander.
the offending operation is, as I understand it, fslint The larger problem is coordination between owner, group, other and eXexcute perms. In the case of tomcat6, it appeared that a shell script inside of tomcat was marked 754 and was working as long as the starting process was the right group, but something changed and the starting process no longer matched group, so the other perm was used which did not have +x and therefore failed I have sent out a list of she-bang scripts and their permissions gvSIG, sahana, rasdaman had suspect looking scripts not marked +x (please check the whole list of you have doubts) The bottom line is that projects that want to assure best performance for the conference DVD need to send a designated tester, get the lastest release candidate, and make sure that things are as they expect >
I do encourage everyone to drop by IRC, download the ISO and confirm that their application is working (or follow a quick start to test an application you are not familiar with).
