I wrote a couple of blogs <http://www.lisasoft.com/blog/programming-public-osgeo-and-locationtech> posts <http://www.lisasoft.com/blog/comments-osgeo-and-locationtech-development-culture> at the time, but progress has been slow so I have not written lately.
