SEORIFUL FESTIVAL

SEORIFUL Festival will run for 6 days from September 15 to 20, 2015 organized 
by Seoul Metropolitan Government and one of area, which is Seocho-gu realated 
Seocho, president of the Cultural Foundation. This festival is for Overseas 
visitors and for making place for showing high-quality art sources and global 
contents. The ultimate goal is open to new combinated- complex culture for all 
participants. For 6 days, about 50 of various culture events and performances 
will be planned at Seocho area. Also it can be focused to main event named 
‘Seocho Gangsan(river+mountain) parade’ which is related theme of Korean 
history, culture and vision. It is fabulous opportunity for learning Korean 
general cultures! Also, it will be good time of your visiting Korea when you 
can take advantage both FOSS4G conference and Seoriful festival at the same 
time.

Weather
Autumn is the ideal time to visit Korea. You can enjoy sunny and bright, cobalt 
blue sky of Seoul. The temperature varies from day to night, so prepare a light 
jacket to keep you warm at morning and night. During the daytime, you can still 
wear light clothes because of strong sunlight.

Currency / Credit Cards / Exchange
Korea’s currency is Won (KRW). There are 1,000; 5,000; 10,000; and 50,000 won 
bills. Coins come in 10, 100, and 500 won. Credit card usage is very high in 
Korea, and international credit cards can easily be used in Seoul and other 
major cities. Cash can be withdrawn at a bank or ATM. Most convenience stores 
have ATMs installed, so international check cards can be used 24 hours a day.
▶ Exchange rate (approximately, as of September 2015): 1 USD to 1,170 KRW.

Electricity
The standard voltage in Korea is 220V. Types of outlets have two round holes. 
Always check the power supply before using your equipment.

Smoking
Smoking is not permitted on most of public locations including bus stops, city 
plazas. If caught smoking in these areas, you might be fined for up to 100,000 
KRW. Non-smoking areas are clearly marked with signs.
Smoking is also not allowed inside restaurants, bars and cafes greater than an 
area of 150m2. Designated smoking areas can be found around the city and at 
major transportation hubs. Cigarettes can be purchased at just about every 
convenience store.
