Thanks Mori-san, I fully agree with you, there is no need to rename anything. Instead, there is lots to do to continue promoting OSGeo and FOSS4G :)

Talk soon,

We, Japan Chapter has already put considerable money, effort and human

I don’t want to rename this to OSGeo conference because we will have to
marketing it almost from zero.
We have good awareness of FOSS4G already and don’t see advantages of renaming
it to OSGeo at least here in Japan.

In Japan case, FOSS4G has begun to spread in Japan now.

I agree completely with Venka. Our strength up to now has to be inclusive,
considering all excellent and community based free and open source projects.
Let us continue in this way!!!
Happy sunday!

I think the OSGeo-Live project that you are leading can be safely
(re)-named as
FOSS4G-Live as it has a wonderful array of software projects that are not
under the OSGeo umbrella as yet.

+1 for "OSGeo conference".

Adding a perspective from someone who marketed FOSS4G 2009.
Creating a marketing message is all about minimising words used,
because "less words get read more".

When explaining FOSS4G to people outside our community you need to use:

"international conference for Free and Open Source Software for
GeoSpatial (FOSS4G), presented by the Open Source Geospatial
Foundation (OSGeo)."

vs

"international Open Source Geospatial (OSGeo) conference"

This is a good question to put to the charter members for a vote at
some point.

Yes, you and I and everyone *on this mailing list* knows
the difference and the relationship between OSGeo and FOSS4G. But
there are people out there in geospatial who don't know either.
Emphatic +1
