This needs clarification. We never had *it* as proper CI and at even comparable scale as it is offered by Travis CI, AppVeyor and others. We had tried CI mode for Buildbot with builds triggered by commits, but we also observed it was killing our resoruces. Comparing CI services via GitHub/BitBucket/etc. with OSGeo Buildbot makes little sense. I'm inclined to judge, we can not afford to host CI for all OSGeo projects at comparable scale OSS-friendly CI services can.
