Dear Jody, (and everybody who is interested in welcoming new OSGeo members on the FOSS4G-Europe conference in Paris)
I noticed that you will be in Paris for the FOSS4G conference (and the F2F board meeting). May I ask your help to organise a topic talk with me to welcome the potential new volunteers attending the FOSS4G conference to the OSGeo Community? During the Paris conference Topic Talks[1] are again scheduled on the agenda, as they form an important backbone for the OSGeo community. Your submission was selected to be embedded in a topic talk session 4 (TT04) together with another submission: submission 100: Working with the OSGeo Community submission 99: Welcome to the FOSS4G Community The targeted audience are all the newbies who wants to know more about and eventually become involved into the OSGeo community. I want to address also to all the OSGeo volunteers who want to introduce these newbies into our community (= mentors). The idea is to present these two talks together with an interactive discussion with the audience to exchange experiences. What can we do better, what was your own experience when becomming an OSGeo volunteeer, wwhat do you expect from OSGeo, reality check: what can we expect from a volunteer? How can you contribute, where can you learn more? What is the next step, .... Are you available to help me during this topic talk to make it a success for these enthusiast new people? Thanks in advance. If anybody else want to volunteer, please put your name on the wiki [3] Dirk.
