Dear Colleagues, We are pleased to invite you to the upcoming celebration of World Science Day for Peace and Development<https://events.unesco.org/event?id=1785331746&lang=1033>, which will be held online, in advance of the day itself, on Friday 5 November 2021 from 13:00 to 15:00 (CET). World Science Day for Peace and Development, which is celebrated every year on 10 November, highlights the important role of science and scientists in broadening our understanding of the remarkable, fragile planet we call home and in making our societies more sustainable. With climate change becoming a serious threat to the lives of billions of people and the planet, this year the celebration will highlight the importance of building climate-ready communities. This year we will celebrate the day, in the form of a webinar, which will include discussions on solutions for building climate-ready communities, with a broad range of speakers involved in UNESCO’s international and intergovernmental science programmes as well as some of the winners of the 2022 L'Oréal-UNESCO Awards for Women in Science. The event will also provide the opportunity to present the winner of the UNESCO Kalinga Prize for the Popularization of Science. The webinar will be held on the Zoom platform in English and French. The registration link and further information are available here<https://events.unesco.org/event?id=1785331746&lang=1033>. Please kindly share this invitation with your network.
