not sure where should i ask this:
- github
- trac
- or mailing list
well i'm writing it here.
first i must thank to "dimo" and "andl" for warm welcoming to the
project. this really make work a lot more pleasant.
let me try to describe what i did in
"plumi-skin-not-installed-together-with-plumi-app" branch:
- removed some of properties in propertiestool.xml and moving specific
parts to plone.content/plone.skin
- moved portal_languagestool.xml to plumi.skin since its kinda strange
that installer install 2 languages, but with this we are still backwards
compatible.
- installing "publish" portlet is kinda weird to have in general
package. i moved this to plumi.skin and in plonetheme.plumigreen i
actually moved this button into header of the portal.
- there are differences between plone.skin and new
plonetheme.plumigreen theme. there are no more rounded corners. other
are placements of elements in head which are in same places as in
plone's sunburts theme. on ofcourse there are more of sunburst goodies.
- changed buildout so that plumi.skin is optional. also in devel.cfg
i'm creating 3 plone sites (which i used for testing):
* Plumi (only plumi.app)
* PlumiOldTheme (plumi.app+plumi.skin)
* PlumiNewTheme (plumi.app+plonetheme.plumigreen)
i assume you would want to remove this, but it just there for you to
easier evaluate design.
- branch i worked on is in in sync with master ... so merge back to
master wouldn't be problematic.
i believe for this change no new release is needed (since they dont
actually fix anything) but could be handy for later releases so ppl have
more choices over which theme to use.
i plan to create few more themes over the weekend (plumired, plumiblue,
plumipink, plumipurple ... well you get the idea just changing the
colors) with screenshots and release them on pypi and plone.org. might
bring some ppl back to plumi once they see they can choose color. i know
its silly but hey it just might work ;P
theme can be found in my github account github.com/garbas (if you want i
can move it to plumi organization with the rest of other themes i will
create).
again pretty long email, i think shouldn't be writing emails at 5:00am.
hope i'm not boring you with all this.
