Is the Jenkins plan to raise the workshop light levels to $60 and hire the
classroom to clean our events?

Wait, yeah, it’s drifting. But the general idea is the same!
With a bit of prioritization, we can figure out why the space isn’t working for
us and find some temporary alternatives. There are a couple little bits that
need work, and then we’ll have plenty of space and all the tools at the ready.
When the space is working because of these temporary measures, we’ll have
higher membership rates, which will solve our money needs.

Raising the member dues $20/member for 40 members would make us $800 in the
short term, and probably lose us members. Getting 20 more members would get us
$800, and would also bring in other kinds of growth due to network effects. So,
I’d say what we’re talking about is directly related to getting us more money.

Is this still related to the Jenkins plan, or is the thread drifting?

  Good idea, Michael!

I think once Adrian's class is over (which fills the room, as far as I know),
we could certainly set up at least one workbench back up in the classroom.

We could also finish (sand/cover) the built bench in the workshop nearest the
lounge (as it has a good light above it). This could be done immediately if
anyone's interested.

Hm, it is kind of dingy, but I just thought of a temporary fix. Everyone
has found their way into the classroom, because it's spacious and very bright.
What if we set up some basic semi-clean work areas where those computers used
to be, or under that first window?

Also we have a good number of members that do not use the space very
much at all and when they do show up its dark, dingy and there's no
      workspace anyway.

Indeed, got to have a great space before asking our members to make it
active -- just thinking ahead on what to do once we're there so we can
have the funds to pay for those renovations after the fact. (I presume
we're going to borrow what we need)

Right now the only discussion we need to have is *WHAT IS GOING ON WITH
      THE LEASE!!!

At some point we're going to have to consider what to do if we just
keep hearing nothing from the management company and landlord. (though I
suppose our continued electricty use would force their hand at some point)

      I don't feel that
we can find 40-50 positions for members if everyone stepped up to the
      plate.

We'll have four spaces (classroom, lounge, computer lab, workshop) to
book up -- but more importantly we should do what we can to encourage
folks to co-organize in groups of 2-4.
