Then table of doom.

One thing to remember about any rolling tables, they need to fit out the door!
Most times they don't. Also any flat surface will acquire stuff if it's left
open, we have seen this in the past and it will not likely change. The tables
in the workshop even had a label on them to be left clean and as soon as
someone left something over it. BAM! no more open table, just more junk.

Yeah, it’s made to be a configurable room, and different set-ups would work
better for different people and purposes.

In the future, I think we’d hope to have more classes (or other classroom
events), and so the expectation would be that we couldn’t hold a configuration
for weeks-long classes.
I wonder if we can get a table on casters, and then just roll that into and
out of the room.

Well, for what it's worth, I don't like it that way.

But since you're doing a large class twice a week, I understand you don't
want to move everything all the time.

In the future though, I think we do have to be more flexible about the
classroom area: it's not just for official classes. That'd be a waste of
space, for one thing.

But more importantly, until there is sufficient light to work in the
workshop, or usable space (clear and with power) in the new computer room, the
classroom is the only reasonable place to do any sort of work that needs a
table or workbench.

The goal would be to keep it as open as possible, but to have a single

As it is, people are moving all sorts of tables in there, so it’s more
like a conference room right now. Really, I think the expectation is that
you’ll just craft the room to your liking when you’re holding a class. This
would include setting up chairs and clearing out extra tables.

If we make the temporary workstation ultra-portable, we could just
unplug everything and move the entire table into the workshop until the class
is done, and then move it back. Maybe a minute of work, total.

No no no - the classroom is supposed to be a *classroom*
We just moved a workbench out of there.

            Good idea, Michael!

I think once Adrian's class is over (which fills the room, as far
as I know), we could certainly set up at least one workbench back up in the
classroom.

We could also finish (sand/cover) the built bench in the workshop
nearest the lounge (as it has a good light above it). This could be done
immediately if anyone's interested.

Hm, it is kind of dingy, but I just thought of a temporary fix.
Everyone has found their way into the classroom, because it's spacious and very
bright. What if we set up some basic semi-clean work areas where those
computers used to be, or under that first window?

Also we have a good number of members that do not use the space
very
much at all and when they do show up its dark, dingy and
there's no
                workspace anyway.

Indeed, got to have a great space before asking our members to
make it
active -- just thinking ahead on what to do once we're there so
we can
have the funds to pay for those renovations after the fact. (I
presume
we're going to borrow what we need)

Right now the only discussion we need to have is *WHAT IS GOING
ON WITH
                THE LEASE!!!

At some point we're going to have to consider what to do if we
just
keep hearing nothing from the management company and landlord.
(though I
suppose our continued electricty use would force their hand at
some point)

                I don't feel that
we can find 40-50 positions for members if everyone stepped up
to the
                plate.

We'll have four spaces (classroom, lounge, computer lab,
workshop) to
book up -- but more importantly we should do what we can to
encourage
folks to co-organize in groups of 2-4.
