Subject: sharp news

Shaftesbury High School will be launching a high altitude balloon (HAB) into
near space with the hopes of reaching over 120 000 ft. We will be launching
at 10 am from Elkorn Resort on October 23, 2012.

This time our team of 30 students has decided to go higher and attempt more
science investigations. We will be testing the effects of radiation on
ecoli, doing an albedo effect experiment, testing 4 different styles of gps
tracking systems and radar detection. We are also carrying temperature and
radiation sensors (Geiger counter) and our four cameras for video and still
pictures. We will also be using arduino programing to release a rc plane 100
km after launch. We hope to retrieve our payload later that day and then all
the hard work will begin.

We would love to have you come out and witness our launch or just follow us
on twitter @shsballoon. Also we will be flying radio beacons with call
numbers VE4SHS-9 or VE4SHS-10 and these can be followed on http://aprs.fi/
