For the April 20th Hackathon, I'd like to propose a theme of rapid prototyping and making.
How about a series of talks and possibly workshops? I'll do a talk on how to use AutoCAD, and how to use Eagle. If there's interest I'll do a short session on how to prepare a project for laser cutting, and we could even follow with a short tour of AssentWorks (I'd clear it with them over there first). I can also talk about the DAC I've been building since 1922. I think another neat idea is a panel/case design workshop - bring questions/parts you want to use and I'll demonstrate how you can mock up a panel in a CAD program and prepare it for production. I'm looking at Ben to talk about how he made his recent rotary encoder board and to discuss the process of getting a board made online. How about it, Ben? Stef: Can you do a short talk on how you're building a 3D printer? Ron: Since you've kinda been heading it up, how about a short talk on the 3D printer we're getting? Five minutes, even, just to show us where to find resources on it, features, etc? Courtney: If it's the right time, you could also briefly talk about the 3D model you need to make for school and how you're going to do it? If anyone else has a proposal for a talk or workshop, shoot me an email and we'll get a series of talks going! ~Justin
