I understand there's a certain trepidation to growing skullspace too large, it's a bit conflicting. On one hand, skullspace wants to attract like minded people which certainly will help offset overhead costs with memberships. On the other hand, if we start "limiting" by way of wanting to keep the group small, then we suddenly risk being exclusive.
I really don't think that at this point in time, Skullspace has any need to worry about what MIGHT happen in the future if we grow too large. We're certainly no where near that concern, at this time. Beyond that, IMHO the "sell" is a club and club house and certain resources that come along with being involved in such a club or association. Personally, I can see the meetup as being less formal than the normal Tuesday meetings, which tends to be focused on the formalities of the organization rather than specifically socializing, which is what meetups tend to be about. In the long term, the meetup specific group can simply be a way to get everyone together specifically for socializing.
