I've been fortunate to be involved with such a great organization since close
to its inception - we've really grown as a hackerspace, and as a valuable
membership base that has proven itself capable of running SkullSpace. The
benefits of being part of our hackerspace are numerous and I hope that one day
I can be involved in SkullSpace again.
That being said, people have been asking what my plans are after I finish my
degree? The answer is I don't know. I'm taking the opportunity to use the next
two years to calibrate my career interests so that by the time I graduate, I
have a very clear idea of where I want to go next. As much as I love Winnipeg
for things like SkullSpace, the symphony, the accessible downtown parking,
Doors Open Winnipeg and lots more, I'm not sure if there's a job market here
for what I want to do. All I can say is... we'll see.
Aarhus has a makerspace, known as Open Space Aarhus: http://osaa.dk/ - once
I'm settled, I'll definitely have to check them out, and maybe see what they
can do with SkullSpace! :)
I'll probably still knock around on discuss@, and maybe start using the IRC
channel a bit more. Really, I'm sad to leave the organization that has brought
many new friends into my life - good luck to everyone in the future!
