I had in the past ensured that at least one of the side benches was clear for working on stuff, but people have slowly let random things creep back into the zone.
I understand that this project has been ongoing for some time, but life doesn't always afford one the time to work on such projects as much as one would like to. On that note, the organization of the bench is a huge project, and only a few people have ever offered to help with it. I will try to get some more work done this weekend, but progress is going to be slow with only one person ever working on it.
