I was looking for a basic idea of what we might expect to see in the opendata hackathon.
I asked the contact what sort of data they actually have on data.gc.ca. Sadly it is mostly "3-star" in their openness rating ( http://data.gc.ca/eng/openness-rating), i.e. at best csvs of reports and such. They don't seem to have any actual database access in place. But, who knows if they will pull one out of a hat before the hackathon to make it look good. When I had a look at some of the apps in their showcase ( http://data.gc.ca/eng/apps) seem to gave a lot of map related entries. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Charette, Patrick <[email protected]> Date: Thu, Jan 23, 2014 at 8:52 AM Subject: RE: Form submission from: Contact Us To: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> Tina, At the moment we have not been able to identify any 5-star rated datasets on the portal. The majority of our datasets are identified as 3-star datasets. We are thinking about taking part in the open data hackathon, and that would be more "fun" with real data than just online reports. Thanks, T
