Hi Everyone,
Some clarification here.
The course is designed to be taken as a whole, and I highly recommend you take
it that way, but if you already have some previous experience with some of the
topics, you may be able to drop in and catch up on your own. I just can't catch
people up individually, as there really won't be time with all the material to
be covered each week. This is the approximate schedule of the course:
Week 1 - Introduction to programming and Java + Lab #1
Week 2 - Variables, Data Types and Numeric Problem-Solving + Lab #2
Assignment #1
Week 3 - Branches (if and if...else) and Logic (Relational Expressions), Part 1
+ Lab #3
Week 4 - Branches (if...else if...else, nested ifs) and Logic (Boolean
expressions), Part 2 + Lab #4
Assignment #2
Week 5 - Strings and Simple Loops + Lab #5
Week 6 - Complex and Nested Loops + Lab #6
Assignment #3
As for computer requirements, there are some Skullspace computers available for
the labs if people do not have their own computers to bring. However, you will
need a computer of your own to work on the take-home assignments.
I hope this clears things up. If you do intend to register for the course, I
would appreciate knowing in advance. Just send me an e-mail with your contact
info, and come tomorrow with the course fee ($60, cash or cheque made out to
me). You probably also want to bring some paper and pen to take notes. Like
Brittany said, the course starts tomorrow evening at 7 pm.

As far as I know, the course is designed to be taken as a full course - you
can't just drop in in the middle and expect to catch up.
