Hello All, I have officially done it! I went completely and utterly mad! I remade my profile website using an ncurses terminal program made in Python! It is officially one of the geekiest websites I have made to date, and is sure make some feel nostalgic.
http://iamkevin.ca/ Don't be fooled by it being text-based and ncurses-based, you can still use your trusty mouse to navigate the pages. This is more of a proof-of-concept of what I am planning to bring to an online game I have been working on, Hacker's Edge: http://www.hackers-edge.com/ I found that making this game using traditional website concepts made it uninteresting, and failed to realize what I wanted this game to really become. The game really needs a "hacker" feel to it, and nothing says "hacker" than a good old terminal emulator. So hopefully within the next couple months I can create this online hacking simulation as a Python terminal app and host it over the Internet via the web browser and of course Telnet. For those in the know, my ideas for this game are based on the critically popular UK game called Uplink. However, I plan to up the realism and develop a true network simulation, where players can arp their way through. All the popular network tools, such as nmap and many others will be fully simulated giving the player a very immerse feeling of being a real-world hacker(but minus the real-world part as that's illegal). Think of it like the "Grand Theft Auto" for today's CyberCrime. You wouldn't go steal a car, rob a bank, or kill someone in real-life(well I barely know any of you, so who knows), so instead you play GTA to do those activities. -- Kevin <m...@iamkevin.ca> _______________________________________________ SkullSpace Discuss Mailing List Help: http://www.skullspace.ca/wiki/index.php/Mailing_List#Discuss Archive: https://groups.google.com/group/skullspace-discuss-archive/
