Had some ideas occur to me the last couple of times I've been in the classroom. Figured they'd be worth sharing...
- Might be a good idea to pull the bulbs from the bank of lights in front of the projector screen. It has the undesirable sideffect of washing out the image, and if we need lights on throughout the rest of the room for follow-along, it creates a bit of a catch 22. - Given the pace of laptop tech, we should consider hard wiring an HDMI connector to the projector. Most multi converters for displayport to DVI don't necessarily include analogue pin-outs on the DVI connections (this means no DVI to D-Sub converters will work). I've resorted to using the spool of HDMI cable we have on-hand but that means it's dangling and I assume might not always be available. - Is it possible to pull the projector back a bit to increase the size of the area it projects and maybe even lower it slightly? I realize, this is all kind of wishlisty, but I think these three changes would go a long way for the classroom. There's also one question/puzzle I'd like to pose with regard to seating. We managed to attract quite a few people at the last PHPUG meeting and I'm wondering if anyone has ideas as to how we can better accomodate groups up to around 30 (!!!) people. Understanding that we have a limited budget, maybe note somewhere that if we could ever get longer tables (fewer table legs), we could fit more people in each row! Anyway, file this under "whenever", even without any of it happening the space has worked out great and the PHPUG is grateful for having access to the space. :) - Alex
