This was the same issue - switch by the door set to "leave downstairs door
open" (a feature which I should have disabled before, and now did). Since
the strikes we use require more amperage than the standard kantech strikes
(I chose those since they were quality units for $20 each, NOS off ebay vs.
Kantech's $100 each) this overheats the strike power supply after a number
of hours. I hadn't yet put in the security cover on the Sksp door latch
area due to this issue, so I got in within seconds using a bit of skill and
a screwdriver. Once I test a workaround using the spare power supply on the
Kantech board, I'll send out a note saying that the "leave downstairs door
open" switch is working again.
