But also more mucking about to get setup.

If IT people are choosing other products due to some of these issues what chance of non-IT people taking on SqueezeBox?

As to cost:
The cheapest SqueezeBox (wired) I can find in the Uk is 141 (inc VAT) this is over $250.  The NetGear MP101 is 80 (inc. VAT) and works with 80211.g.

I would always choose a SlimDevices product - but the two people I spoke of did not.  This makes me worried about SlimDevices, they have one product and the competition has caught up (for the major features) and are cheaper.

True - another wall wart and bit of kit to hide

A very quick search shows that in the UK the difference between a
wired and wireless SB is 50 (and with the drop in the price of the
wired SB it will soon be more than that).  Netgear, DLink and Linksys
G bridges are all available delivered for less than 55 so hardly
significant.
