As has been noted, people generally only write to this list when something
goes wrong. So here's a good experience to counter that.

My home environment is extremely noisy in the 2.4Ghz band. I have a 2.4
Ghz FHSS phone --- which means it broadcasts continuously, even when the
phone is not in use. I have a 2.4Ghz video sender, which is located on
the second floor, immediately beside and 2' higher than my access point,
and is aimed at the basement. The line of sight passes straight through
the squeezebox, as is easily confirmed by standing next to the sqeezebox
(the T.V. goes all static if you pass through the straight line between the
sender and the receiver). We have a microwave located about eight feet
from the squeezebox. The squeezebox finds three wireless APs, mine and two
others.

I expected, when I got the squeezebox, that I'd have to get rid of the
video sender and run coax to replace it (due to the layout of the house, it
was easier to run coax from the second floor to the basement, then to run
CAT5 from the second floor to the living room).

But I tried it first, and there was no problem. The video sender is on
continuously, and the phone is on 23 hours a day, and there's never a
drop-out. I can download large files over wireless without interfering
with the sound. Adding our microwave sometimes causes dropouts, but only
if it's running continuously. No more than one drop out per five minutes
of cooking, and just a second or two.

The phone jams the video sender, so we have to unplug the phone for the
hour of TV a day the kids are allowed to watch. Not only does our
microwave jam the TV, the microwaves of our neighbours jam the TV (we live
in a townhouse). Somebody runs their microwave for a couple of minutes
every night at 8:00, I'm guessing they like popcorn in the evening. The
neighbour's use of microwaves and WI-FI doesn't affect the squeezebox;
there's never a dropout if we aren't using our microwave.

So, I'm quite happy. The distance from the access point is about 12'
horizontal and about 10' vertical, through a floor and two walls, and the
noise environment is quite hostile, and it all works amazingly well.

I stream MP3, not lossless, which obviously greatly reduces the bandwidth
requirements. The wireless performance of my Squeezebox outperformed my
expectations.
