I'm using iTunes so it isn't rescanning my music library.
I have tried with both the wireless and ethernet connections too.
Any chance the squeeze box could be buggered?

Is the server rescanning the music library when you get this error? If you wait a while it may connect.

I can ping the Squeezebox from the Mac running the Slimserver.
The Squeezebox has worked before on this machine but was connected to another Mac for a few months and not really used.
