There is an ebuild for slimserver 5.4.0 available and I put together my notes on how I used this to install on my KuroBox. (128mb, 266mHz PPC - a 'super' linkstation, or a Linkstation Plus). I've ~8k songs and see similar CPU usage as Marc. The system works very well with very few dropouts, I only hear dropouts when I am running the internet radio streams, which I think has more to do with my ISP than slimserver. I will be reading Marc's article to see how to upgrade my system to 5.4.1, or even 6.02a. The revogear forums and the yahoo group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LinkStation_General/) for the linkstation are pretty good for additional information. Good luck, it is well worth the effort.
