Yes, you can.

With the telnet hack you can mount a normal USB-Drive.
Some guys have put a second 2.5" HD in it.

Can you?  The Hifidelio FAQ says

Can I connect any external hard disk to the Hifidelio?


Only Hermstedt's Hifidelio Hard Disk can be connected. This allows
easy backup and restore of the contents of the Hifidelio.
