I know how to set it up to work with the squeezebox's default remote...no problem, but that remote lacks certain specific buttons, like stop ff, and rew. By using a JVC DVD remote, you can get specific buttons for specific functions, so now I'm trying to setup my remote for a Squeezebox using the JVC DVD codes (for more functionality). That's the tricky part. (I can add a JVC DVD player device, but I want to add a squeezebox device, and tell it to use the alternate remote codes)

Also...can someone tell me how to go about possibly making up a new IR file for another remote? or are we somehow limited to JVC DVD or the original remote.

(I'm actually surprised the same crappy remote is shipping with SB2)

Anyone out there have the Harmony 688 remote, and have it programmed to use the JVC remote codes? If so...how did you do it? (I know I can add a JVC DVD player....but that doesn't seem right, even though it appears to work)

Danny:

I just bought a Harmony 676. I had to teach the
Harmony nearly all the functions of the Slim Devices
remote -- a few worked with their online defaults,
but most did not. Try to dig through their somewhat
awkward but in the end powerful web interface until
you find the part about teaching the remote.

If you don't figure it out in 3 minutes or less,
call Harmony's technical support. They answer right
away, are open til 10PM, and seem to be a bunch of
bright and friendly Canadians. I called them twice in
the space of a few hours, and they were great -- it was
a pleasure to be dumb for a change.
