Hello,
I'm considering purchasing the Squeezebox, but before I do I wanted to test drive the Slimserver software. I'm having trouble getting the audio to stream to an audio player.
Here's a list of relavent software I'm running: Fedora Core 3 on P4 1.8 GHz / 512 SDRAM slimserver-6.0b1 (RPM install) lame-3.96.1-2.1.fc3 (RPM install)
I started slimserver and connected to the web interface without issue. I created a directory for my music library as /usr/share/music and chown'ed the directory and all it's contents to slimserver.slimserver and set the permissions on it to 777 (I don't care if this directory gets screwed with for the time being). I followed the instructions on streaming to a player, and I get to where I tell the server to start playing the music and the connection is abruptly closed.
I checked to see what's happening in the logs by turning on some of the debug flags, but I wasn't able to make much sense of it aside from the HTTP logs. I did notice that the server seemed to be streaming a file called "silence.mp3" until the play button is clicked, so I checked to see if all that was working. I telneted into localhost:9000 and issued "GET /stream.mp3 HTTP/1.0" as an HTTP request, and sure enough I started getting a stream of data. I checked the silence.mp3 file, and the stream and file both matched.
However, the moment I click on the "play" button in the server's web interface, the telnet connection I had streaming silence immediately closes. I checked file permissions on the stuff in my music library, and even su'ed as "slimserver" to see if I had proper access, and everything checked out.
Does anyone have any idea what to do next? Any tips would be appreciated.
