I wonder which receiver the Rotel RSX1056 uses ...
I don't think it's a timing / jitter issue. More likely a compatibility issue or error in the channel status data or something like that.
I've been procrastinating upgrading my home receiver to a RSX1056 so I can fiddle around with driving its RS232 interface through the geekport... I guess this is my excuse. :)
