Could you give me a bit more - especially interested what it says when you try to play a stream via Alien.
Getting a bit further.
To my surprise, my remark about the line endings in RTSP.pm is wrong. No, I'm not surprised that I can be wrong, but it seems that the line endings this time do have to be, as they are in the file provided, Carriage Return and Line Feed rather than the standard Unix of Line Feed only.
I've swapped around a bit, and it seems (this still strikes me as odd) that the Alien plugin just doesn't load at all when I change that module to end with line feed only, but loads fine with the original CR+LF.
Now what about playing. If I run slimserver from the command line, it seems that AlienBBC works fine. But in normal use it loads ok and the menu can be negotiated on the Squeezebox, but does not play. I get, as already reported, "Connecting", "Connecting to play", "Connecting", and then "Stopped".
I seem to remember having that issue in a previous incarnation of AlienBBC. Yes, that's right. Neil Sleightholm wrote on 2nd January that two folders needed to be installed in the CPAN folder of Slimserver, and then the old version worked for me. With Slimserver 6.0 one of these folders is already there. But installing the other one (Neil wrote, copy "C:\Perl\site\lib\auto\HTML" to ".\server\CPAN\auto" - you need to create the directory 'auto' ) does not help, in fact with this installed AlienBBC doesn't even load.
Since I can get the AlienBBC menus working in normal use, I can turn on some debug switches. What switches will help in seeing where the problem is?
